Awards and Honors Information:

The following awards will be presented at the Fall Dinner Meeting annually:


Audrey Hay Award
Presented annually to a BGDDA member who has demonstrated long-standing commitment to BGDDA, leadership and sustained contributions.


Special Contribution Award
Presented annually to a BGDDA member who has specifically and significantly contributed to the activities of BGDDA through a one-time special act.  A group of BGDDA members may be nominated for a Special Contribution as well as an individual.

Community Service Award
Presented annually to an individual or group/organization who has promoted or enhanced the nutritional well-being of the community or has contributed significantly to the nutrition profession.  The nominee does not have to be a member of BGDDA.


Outstanding Dietetic Student Award
Presented annually to a dietetic student who has been nominated by his/her professor for outstanding performance in a school's dietetic program of study.  For nomination, professor must submit a letter of recommendation.  Student's resume is preferred.  The student does not have to be a member of the BGDDA.  Student nomination will also be forwarded to the KDA for award consideration.


Outstanding Dietetic Intern Award
Presented annually to a dietetic intern who has been nominated by his/her professor or preceptor for outstanding performance in a dietetic internship.  For nomination, professor or preceptor must submit a letter of recommendation.  Intern's resume is preferred.  The intern does not have to be a member of the BGDDA.  Intern nomination will also be forwarded to the KDA for award consideration.


(Student Awards will also be submitted to the KDA for nomination)

We will also be submitting nominations for the following KDA awards:

 

Outstanding Dietitian of the Year
Criteria:  "Top Honor for Our Local Association"; Member of ADA, active participation in state or local association, not previously selected as Outstanding Dietitian of the Year with KDA, demonstrates concern for promotion of optimal health and nutritional status and demonstrates leadership in various areas.


Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year
Criteria:  Member of ADA, 35 years of age or younger as of April 1, 2009, active participation in state or local association, not previously selected as Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year with KDA, demonstrates concern for promotion of optimal health and nutritional status and demonstrates leadership in various areas.


Recognized Diet Tech of the Year
Criteria:  Member of ADA, active participation in state or local association, not previously selected as Recognized Diet Tech of the Year with KDA, demonstrates concern for promotion of optimal health and nutritional status and demonstrates leadership in various areas.


Emerging Dietetic Leader
Criteria:  Member of ADA, between 5 and 10 years of dietetic experience, active participation in state or local association, not previously selected as Recognized Young Dietitian, Diet Technician or Emerging Dietetic Leader of the Year with KDA, demonstrates concern for promotion of optimal health and nutritional status and demonstrates leadership in various areas.


Outstanding Dietetics Educator
Criteria:  Member of ADA, member of faculty with academic or supervised practice appointments or preceptors in CADE-accredited education program, demonstrates innovative teaching skills, mentoring and leadership roles.


Nominations may be submitted by any BGDDA member (for student awards, any professor or preceptor) via email or mail and should be returned for consideration by Friday, November 27, 2009. 

**Nominations received after the deadline WILL NOT be considered**


Selection will be by majority vote of the BGDDA Board.  Nomination requirements are listed on each nomination form - KDA award nomination requirements are also listed on the ADA webpage (www.eatright.org).  Recipients of the BGDDA awards will be recognized and presented an award certificate at the Fall dinner meeting and BGDDA will pay for their dinner.  KDA award nominees will be presented to the KDA board, and award recipients will be chosen by the KDA and recognized at the next KDA annual meeting.
