In this presentation, Eric Davenport, RD, LD, CDCES, MLDCES, will discuss the factors that make diabetes complex, requiring a multidisciplinary approach. He will further explain the roles of clinical staff, including the registered dietitian, to understand what they do independently and as part of a endocrinology team
Meet your speaker
Eric is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist at the Wendy Novak Diabetes Center in Louisville, KY, where he specializes in pediatric diabetes. Eric has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 22 years and is passionate about using his experience and perspective to educate, inspire, and plant seeds of healthy living in the hearts and minds of his patients.

Tanya Whitehouse is a Central KY native who, after dabbling in language, art history and other career twists, finally listened to her heart and decided to follow a love for cooking.
Tanya received a culinary degree and completed her school externship at Lexington's very own, Holly Hill Inn, learning extensively under Chef Ouita Michel.
"We are inexorably tied to what we eat, that learning how to cut an onion can change our lives, and that sitting down to a meal together can connect us with people in ways nothing else can."

Vanessa is a Registered Dietitian with UK Wellness. She works on all EatWell programming, such as EatWell Weight loss, grocery tours, and nutrition consults.
She believes that the food on our plates can be many things: emotions, politics, medicine, joy... and it is at the heart of everything we do.
She is a lifelong vegetarian who nonetheless believes there is no "one diet" for everyone. That being said, "lentils are seriously underrated".
